What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy is a science based health and social care profession regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council.
Occupational therapists use a whole person perspective to work with individuals, groups and communities to achieve optimal health and wellbeing through participation in the occupations of life.

The term ‘occupation’ is used to describe all the everyday things we do in our life roles, but also the things we do to be who we are, the things we do. (AOT)
Meet Heather
With over 14 years of experience as an occupational therapist, including the last 5 years in independent practice, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my work.

My experience spans a wide range of conditions, with specialist skills in handling complex neurological and catastrophic injuries, cognitive and vocational rehabilitation, and lifestyle interventions.

I have a particular passion for supporting individuals in the areas of sex, intimacy and disability, and parenting skills after a brain injury. I'm continually expanding my knowledge and skills in these areas of practice.
Being an occupational therapist isn't just my job - it's something I love and take immense pride in. I'm constantly striving to improve outcomes for individuals with brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
Committed to my own continuous professional development, I've gained certification in motivational interviewing, cognitive behaviour therapy for insomnia, and Lifestyle Medicine. This commitment to learning enhances the outcomes for those who access my services.

I understand that health and life challenges can often feel overwhelming and scary. My goal is to assist individuals on their own journeys, helping them improve functional outcomes and make lifestyle changes that optimise health, wellbeing, and quality of life.
